みなさん、こんばんは!
Last time I wrote a reflection for my speaking, and for Japanese in general, I outlined several clear goals and activities for the upcoming semester. I'll look at how well I accomplished (or did not accomplish) each of these goals.
Goal 1: Becoming smoother and more confident as I talk.
Goal 2: Correcting my grammar, tenses, and forms as I speak.
Activities:
- Attend at least one office hour per week.
- Watch anime/drama and copy phrases.
- Speak with friends and roommates to test newly learned grammar.
I think that in the past few weeks I did not progress nearly as much as I would have liked towards these goals and activities. I did begin to attend more office hours, although illness forced me to cancel a few appointments. I also began listening more intently to key phrases in anime that I have been watching, and spoke a bit with my roommate to practice lessons learned in class. However, I do not think that I was wholly successful. I need to practice FAR more often if I want to improve and retain what I am learning.
I still want to adhere to the goals and activities outlined above, but with more conviction and actual practice. I know this will be difficult (as we approach the end of the year my racing season for crew is beginning and the major essay assignments are getting piled on), but I truly want to improve and continue on a path to fluency!
